The Year 3 homework packs was designed through consultation with a group of Year 3 teachers and parents of Year 3 children. It encorporates aspects of the literacy and numeracy National Curiculum for Key Stage 2 (see bottom of page).



Checklist of activities



Week 1 - Who I know here
The children talk to different people in their area to find out what people like/dislike about it .

Week 2 - Numbers and word walk
The parents and their children take a walk around the area and record differnt words/numbers they find.

Week 3 - My home poem
Children use the information they have gathered to create their own poem about the area.

Week 4 - What my home has
Parents and children look around the local area in order to see what different shops are available nearby.

Week 5 - Interview
In order to find out more information about their area, children interview someone .



Week 6 - Come to live here
Children use all the information they have learned to turn it into a leaflet about the area.
