The Year 4 homework pack was designed through consultation with a group of Year 4 teachers and parents of Year 4 children. It encorporates aspects of the literacy and numeracy National Curiculum for Key Stage 2 (see bottom of page). It is best used during a history topic so that children can compare different societies.



Checklist of activities



Week 1 - Interview
Parents and children work together to think of questions to ask a time traveller before starting a role-play.

Week 2 - A strange sight
The children go outside with an adult and take notes about the things a time traveller would find strange.

Week 3 - Medicines
Parents supervise children looking at medicines kept in the house and record what they are for.

Week 4 - Model making
Children make a sketch or a model of their house.

Week 5 - Food and drink
Children create a modern day menu focusing on food now available from different cultures.



Week 6 - Clothing
Children look at the materials used to make their clothes before drawing and labeling themselves in them.
